Alternative technique for rapid body cooling in the treatment of exertional heat illness (EHI), Designed by Ron Courson, ATC, PT, NREMT-I, CSCS (Director of Sports Medicine, University of Georgia), Kept refrigerated or in an ice cooler prior to use, it maintains a temperature range from ~ 45-60 degrees F. Arm portals allow for easy monitoring of vital signs, and continued IV hydration. Central velcro opening, allows for easy patient access for monitoring of digital rectal thermometer, and additional cooling of other key body sites to further enhance rapid cooling. Strapping systems and handles allow for easy transfer to stretcher to continue rapid cooling process during ambulance transport. The ECCS encases large patients up to 385 lbs and 7' tall, is durable, washable, and reusable.
